Easy ways to keep your children cool in the sun!!

Hello world!!

Unbelievably here in the North West of England we have a warm and sunny day! It has reached a lovely, and in my opinion, beautiful 17 degrees. Just perfect for playing out in the garden with water and drain pipes, as my children have done for most of the day today. One thing is certain, if you give them water, they are happy. The end.

For a long time now I have made them a quick and nutritious smoothie. Enjoyed as part of their breakfast alongside pancakes and fruit, or cereal and home-made muesli, they always enjoy drinking it. This is still a great keeping cool option when temperatures are soaring but an even better and in their view more exiting option is to freeze the smoothie in ice lolly molds. It will take you no more than 5 minutes to make, time to freeze then enjoyed the next day when the heat is too much and they need a cool down.

Smoothie or ice lolly recipe

1 Bag of frozen mango or 2 fresh mango, peeled and chopped into small pieces

Half of a ripe banana, if you have one but this is optional

500ml fresh orange juice

Place all the ingredient above into a large jug or a blender. If you have a stick blender then blend for a few seconds until smooth.

Pour the smoothie mixture into ice lolly moulds as shown below, or you can buy ice pop sleeves online which are very good, and reminiscent of those you maybe had when you were a child.

Place in the freezer for a least 6 hours.

Grab them from the freezer when your little ones are too hot or you for that matter!!

Any spare smoothie just drink with ice.

Cheers!!
